I have had the opportunity as of lately for some awesome people to look to me for helping them along in their journey. They have been wanting to start their own brand, eCommerce stores and businesses.
One of the first things I learned very quickly is this -
You don’t have a money problem.
You don’t have a lifestyle problem.
You just have a skill problem.
It all comes down to a skill.
I could go on and on, but I want to break down an outline I walked him through. Wherever you're at right now, hopefully, this can help you elevate to a new height.
Write out the skills you are currently doing or have. Whether that’s a job or for someone part-time.
Which one of these skills do you enjoy the most?
Write out a Standard Operating Procedure (Process) for that skill - this is the entire process you go through when this Skill goes into play. From step 1 to step 25+, write it all down as if you were going to train someone to do it.
Got it? Great.
Then I suggested an outline of the next few years. I also told him to look at the next three years instead of three months because usually people will get excited about having their own business or learning something new, yet when they see minimal results the first 3 months to a year, they quit. “It just didn’t work for me.” Well, no shit it didn’t because you quit before momentum was built and results starting coming.
That is like wanting to be a farmer and planting seeds for fruit then quitting after 3 weeks because nothing grew. 🤦
If you can remove the need for instant gratification, you have what I call a superpower in today's world.
Step One - Write out your Standard Operating Procedure (aka process or system) for the skill you love doing the most. Add, improve to it when needed and remove aspects that you outgrow or no longer believe has a great impact in getting the desired result. Don’t have a specific skill? Pick a lifestyle you want to have, find people who have it, ask them what was the first few skills they got super good at, then learn one of those.
Step Two - Invest in yourself. Buy books, courses, and coaching from people who are Masters at this skill.
That's it. Focus on those two.
Keep optimizing your SOP/System/process.
Keep Learning and investing in books, courses, coaching in both your Skill and personal growth.
Now add - Sales.
Start learning and practicing sales. Books, courses, jobs, coaching. Implement this into your skillset. If sales is already your top skill, work on developing marketing for a specific industry that your already good at selling.
Get feedback from people who say no and get feedback from people who pay you for that skill. Optimize your process. Slowly start building more and more results. Even do work for free with your skill.
That's it.
Now you have a specific process with a skill that delivers a result. Others can and will pay you for this specific skill because they need a specific result.
It’s time to Market yourself and learn more about marketing.
Start offering your Skill as a solution to the problem is solves. Then use your developing marketing and sales skillz to sell people on hiring you to achieve the result they want through you having this skill.
This can be applying for a new job or starting a business around your special skill.
Having a system and process is KEY because you can always optimize this system and get better and better to deliver better results faster and faster. Making you more and more in demand year after year increases your price and income year after year.
What makes this work too is having a Life 2.0 or Reality 2.0 idea in you head before starting and then giving it three years before stopping. Give it time. All great things take time.
You are source, not reaction. You can create a life you love living. You are powerful - never forget any of those. Adapt them as deep core personal beliefs.
